Day 1 : VENICE (Italy)
Welcome to Venice and on board the Royal Clipper !
As one of the most enchanting cities in the world Venice, la Serenissima, has been attracting all her visitors by revealing them wealth of the artistic treasures and architectural heritage. St. Mark's square with its impressive basilica and the Doge's Palace, many palaces and churches, rive and sestieri, canals and gondolas make an almost dreamlike atmosphere of the city on water and the all-pervading patina of history which are just the perfect place to let go and get carried away by your feelings. Once the supreme Mediterranean power the today`s Venice is known as the city of lovers and of those who are in love with the arts and architecture.
Day 2: ROVINJ (Croatia)
Arrival in Rovinj in the late morning hours.
You will be enchanted by this charming, picturesque town situated on a hill called Monte Rosso. Situated on the Western coast of Istrian peninsula Rovinj is claimed to be the most beautiful town in the Northern Adriatic. Take a walk through the shady, narrow streets and secret passages of Rovinj Old Town. Enjoy the magnificent view from the hilltop dominated by St. Euphemia`s church which holds the relics of the early Christian martyress and numerous valuable Venetian paintings. Explore numerous art galleries, handcraft and souvenir stores which all make Rovinj an artistic center of the Croatian Northern Adriatic.
Day 3 : ZADAR (Croatia)
Once a Roman colony and medieval rival of Venice, Zadar is today a “city of treasury ”, which has preserved its Roman Forum, the Romanesque Church of St. Donatus and other monuments such as Benedictine Convent, St. Anastasia`s Cathedral as well as valuable collection of sacral arts called “ Gold and Silver of Zadar “. While strolling the famous Kalelarga street this town will reveal to you all the charm of a typically Mediterranean town.
Day 4 : SPLIT – KORCULA ISLAND (Croatia)
This morning Royal Clipper will call the port of Split. The magnificent city of Split with its numerous archaeological, historical and cultural monuments is the second largest city in Croatia and capital of Dalmatia. In the historical core of Split - and within a walking distance of the ship- stands the massive Palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian, dating back to the 3rd A.D. In the course of time the Old Town of Split developed inside and around the Palace which included three Roman temples and a massive mausoleum. While visiting the complex of Diocletian Palace you will also enjoy a vibrant warren of museums, art galleries, cafes and restaurants mingled with the architecture of Romanesque, Gothic and Renneisance Split.
While navigating among the string of islands the Royal Clipper will reach the island of Korcula. Korcula that gave birth to Marco Polo will overwhelm you with whispers of the past. Korcula still treasures memory of the most famous world traveler. His house, the vigorous medieval sword game Moreska, the Bishop`s Palace with the works of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Tiepolo are only some of the attractions of Korcula. The town offers harmony of natural beauty and human endeavor as well as the typically Mediterranean laid back, relaxing pace of life. Shop for handmade Croatian folk art near the City Gate, or relax at one of the picturesque waterfront cafés, and enjoy the breezy resort atmosphere that prevails in this medieval town.
Day 5: KOTOR (Montenegro)
Sail at daybreak in the magnificent Bay of Kotor, the largest fjord of the Mediterranean. Kotor is a small town surrounded by walls dating from the Byzantine times built at the foot of the highest Montenegrin mountain of Lovcen. The Old Town represents an amazing testimony of Romanesque architecture including the Cathedral of St. Tryphon, a masterpiece of work of the Benedictine monks. Long maritime tradition is visible on every corner of this Montenegrin coastal jewel.
Day 6: DUBROVNIK – HVAR ISLAND (Croatia)
By following the steps of “ those who seek the Paradise on Earth” this morning at 7.00 you will arrive in Dubrovnik. Make sure to explore all the treasures of this worldwide famous Mediterranean city being the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once a powerful independent republic Dubrovnik has managed to preserve its Gothic, Baroque and Reneissance palaces, monasteries and churches. Visit the Dominican Monastery with its cloister, the Franciscan Monastery still housing the oldest European pharmacy, Sponza Palace, Onofriou`s Fountain and stroll the famous Stradun street to feel real pulse of this unique Mediterranean pearl.
The Island of Hvar will be the next Royal Clipper`s stop. “I know paradise now, I know Hvar,” goes a local saying. A walk along the waterfront promenade and through the Old Town of Hvar reveals a wealth of historic medieval and Renaissance buildings as well as lovely yachts and other private craft. Fine arts, including paintings by Old Masters and ecclesiastic treasures of precious materials, can be found in the collections of the Franciscan Monastery and the treasury of Hvar Cathedral.
The scent of lavender will follow you everywhere while strolling the streets of Hvar and exploring all its historic monuments, craft shops, open air cafes and restaurants.
Day 7: MALI LOSINJ ISLAND (Croatia)
In the late morning arrive in the port of Mali Losinj.
By the 19th century Mali Losinj developed into the second most important port in the Adriatic when its residents were widely known as the best seamen in the Mediterranean who gradually enriched the Mali Losinj port with their beautiful villas. Due to its mild climate this part of the Croatian coast has always been well known as a favourite health resort.
Day 8: VENICE (Italy)
Early morning arrival in the port of Venice for disembarkation after breakfast. We hope that you will bring back home wonderful memories from your cruise Along the Adriatic Coast.
