It’s the light, the Vermeer sunlight. It’s the first quality you’ll notice in the Low Countries: illuminating the tulip fields, stretching the shadows before windmills, sculpting the clouds above the steel-grey Ijsselmeer.
And you’ll realize – the Dutch and Belgians built the dikes, and preserved this land from the North Sea, to create a realm of pure art.
